Establishing a reputation for innovative automatic knife designs, Templar Knife releases a break from automatics with the Paladin folder. The new model gives people who live in restrictive states the opportunity to enjoy the quality the company delivers. And it comes at a budget-friendly price, to boot.
The Templar Knife Paladin
Featuring a textured Micarta handle, the EDC Paladin provides a solid purchase whether wet or dry. Likewise, the ergonomic grip features three elongated finger notches along its length for additional retention. The butt of the knife includes a slight drop to help further lock the grip into the hand during use.
Nestled within the grip is the 3.27-inch blade in your choice of drop or tanto points. Correspondingly, the drop point features a straight edge while the tanto is partially serrated and includes a thumb ramp. In addition, the drop point features a swedge that runs almost halfway up the blade.
The blade is constructed of D2 tool steel with a black oxide powder coat for additional resistance to wear. D2 provides a solid option for budget-friendly steels with good edge-holding qualities and overall performance.
The Paladin is opened via a flipper design with the blade riding smoothly on a ceramic bearing pivot. Once brought to its 7.67-inch overall length, the blade is held in lockup via a solid liner lock mechanism.
The Paladin rides deep in the pocket via a skeletonized pocket clip set up for right-hand- tip-up carry only. However, the pocket clip is not reversible and can only be carried in the tip-up configuration.

I was first introduced to Paladin Knife at SHOT Show last year and started carrying one of its OTF knives. For the most part, there isn’t much that can be done with the OTF that is going to be a far departure from other companies. However, Templar Knife managed to take the platform to the next level with the first “screwless” OTF knife.
