Glock has done it again! After the release of the hugely popular Glock 42 in .380 ACP, shooters clamored for a single-stack version in 9mm for concealed carry, and the company listened. The new Glock 43 holds 6+1 rounds of 9mm ammo in a slim, single-stack configuration that is only slightly larger than the ultra-compact Glock 42.
I recently traveled to Glock’s headquarters in Smyrna, Ga., to see the new Glock 43 firsthand and put some shots downrange. The Glock 43, like its Glock 42 predecessor, is built for concealed carry, and its “slim-line” dimensions certainly help.
Sporting a 3.39-inch barrel, the pistol’s overall length is 6.26 inches and its unloaded weight is 16.19 ounces. The width of the slide is only 0.87 inches, and including the grip, the pistol’s overall width is a scant 1.02 inches. Translation: This pistol is very easy to conceal.
Of course, it’s all Glock, too. It has a durable polymer frame, a hexagonal-rifled barrel and Glock’s ultra-reliable Safe Action system, which provides three built-in safeties to prevent accidental discharges. If you have used Glock pistols before, you already know how to run this pistol.
As you can see in this video, the pistol is accurate and reliable with manageable recoil—a very important feature conducive to shooting. After all, if the pistol isn’t comfortable to shoot, will you ever practice with it?
The Glock 43 excels in all categories. The trigger reach is a few millimeters longer than the .380 Glock 42’s, but that’s an advantage, as I explain in this video.
There has been long, pent-up demand in the marketplace for a “slim-line” Glock chambered for the 9mm cartridge, and high sales volume is predicted.
Check out this video to see the Glock 43 in action, and keep your eyes peeled for future reviews in COMBAT HANDGUNS magazine.
