In the upcoming February 2014 issue of Special Weapons for Military & Police, author Sean Utley test-fired the new Spike’s Tactical Compressor .300 BLK.
Utley writes, “as I stare at the Spike’s Tactical Compressor in 300 AAC Blackout, or 300 BLK, I can say, without a doubt, that this is one unique and exotic weapon. And, it’s an AR platform as well. Yeah, that’s right. To call it a ‘gun’ is somewhat selling it short. It’s more of a customizable weapons system. Where do I begin? Is it the handsome billet upper receiver or the beautifully machined lower receiver? The heat-sinked barrel and gas tube that resembles something out of a futuristic space movie, or the ball-dimpled suppressor tucked almost entirely under Spike’s own billet BAR rail with heat shield? It could be the beautifully dimpled and lightened bolt carrier that is nickel-boron coated and snicks back and forth like a sewing machine when the charging handle is pulled. It’s not any one feature of this weapon, but the combination of all of them together, that makes it so desirable. Everyone who encounters this weapon for the first time has the same response. They are a bit shocked because the gun doesn’t seem, well…real.”
