Safariland Rolls Out New Gun Fits for Concealed Carry Holsters

With the concealed carry market booming, companies are working to satisfy the demand for accompanying holsters. The latest group to do this is Safariland, which just announced a bunch of new gun fits for its concealed carry rigs accommodating the Ruger LC9S, Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, Springfield XD-S and Glock models 26, 27, 42 and 43.

The Safariland holsters getting new gun fits include the Model 18 Inside Waistband, 27 Inside Pants, 578 GLS Pro-Fit, 7371/7378 7TS ALS and 5198 Open Top.

“We’re committed to engineering holsters that reflect market needs,” James Dawson, the duty gear category director at Safariland, said in a statement. “By combining additional fits, premium comfort, low-profiles and secure retention, these holsters offer concealed carry users a wider range of options for carrying their small, very concealable firearms.”

In the press release, Safariland touts its GLS (Grip Locking System) and ALS (Automatic Locking System) as being ideal for those looking for added security in their concealed carry holsters. The GLS features an ergonomic lever on the bottom of the holster. The lever is released by the middle finger as the user takes a firing grip on the gun. Upon re-holstering, the gun securely locks back into place. With the ALS, meanwhile, the lever is at the top of the holster. When drawing, the shooter’s thumb sweeps back the cam lever to release the gun. When re-holstered, there’s an audible click noise that lets the user know the gun is secure.

Safariland’s Model 578 and 7TS holster series feature the company’s SafariSeven, a nylon blend that is non-abrasive to a firearm’s finish while maintaining high heat and low cold tolerances, ranging from below 50 degrees Fahrenheit to above 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

All of these Safariland holsters are available in black. Models 578 and 7371/7378 can also be bought in tan, and the 5198 is available in all STX finishes and colors. MSRP ranges from $49.50 to $56 for these rigs. Check out the pricing breakdown below.
