Reviewing of Concealed-Carry Permits in Illinois

An Illinois resident applying for a concealed-carry license must be at least 21 years old and have a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card.

144 applications have been received by the city of Elmhurst for concealed carry permits since the start of 2014, and so far, has only objected to one applicant who has been arrested over five times in the last seven years.

As the applications roll in, the Elmhurst Police Department is considering new training to deal with potentially being called to “more incidents where a person may be armed” and “mulling its response procedures,” according to the article.

Meanwhile, signs that show a handgun covered by a red ban symbol are being posted at libraries and fire stations — and other locations where guns are not allowed under the new law, according to the Chicago Tribune.
