Republican House candidate Landon Laubhan stated he’s comfortable arming teachers in the classroom. Laubhan, of Springfield, added that the state’s concealed-carry law is mainly for show because it has too many restrictions on where weapons can be carried. “I think concealed carry was just a look-good law because you really cannot carry a gun anywhere,” he said.
Laubhan said he would like to see more places where concealed weapons are allowed. For example, privately owned amusement parks should be able to allow concealed weapons, he said. And he has no problem arming teachers.
“If you can’t trust a teacher to carry a concealed weapon and protect students, who can you really trust?” he said. “I’ll put a teacher with a gun up against a bad man with a gun any day.”

Laubhan said he is fully confident that law enforcement will be able to screen out people who should not be able to carry concealed guns. He isn’t a gun owner, he said, but “I don’t have to own a gun in order to love the Second Amendment.”
