UPDATE (Aug. 11, 6:31 a.m. EST):
Universal Studios has pulled its release of “The Hunt” after recent backlash of the premise.
The “elites” in Hollywood are often the first to condemn gun violence. Movie stars, by and large, are anti-Second Amendment. Then they go out and collect their paychecks in movies that rely on firearms to tell the story. Trust us, the Hollywood hypocrisy isn’t lost on us. But an all-new trailer for the upcoming film “The Hunt” takes things to an entirely new level.
The film follows 12 “deplorables” who wake up in a clearing. They soon learn they’re being hunted. By whom? The wealthy “elite,” who host the event for sport. Yes, you’re reading that correctly: the elite hunting deplorables.

For those of you living under a rock, “deplorables” is the term adopted by President Donald Trump’s supporters during the 2016 election after Hillary Clinton referred to them as such. Now Hollywood, mostly viewed as liberal, is attacking its counterparts in plain sight — literally. Not to mention the film features a slew of weapons, which Hollywood so often denounces.
Universal, the studio behind “The Hunt,” reportedly pulled advertising for the film after the two mass shootings last week. However, the trailer, which you can view above, remains online. The film’s release date was Sept. 27, however, that may change.
Criticism of the film’s trailer peaked this week, with President Trump even weighing in.
“Hollywood, I don’t call them the elites. I think the elites are the people they go after in many cases. But Hollywood is really terrible,” Trump told Fox News this week. “What they’re doing, with the kind of movie they’re putting out, it’s actually very dangerous for our country. What Hollywood is doing is a tremendous disservice to our country.”
