Advancing technology has had a profound effect on the accessibility of small optics with large glass. However, they can still be hard to find. The recent wave and popularity of lightweight, powerful and tiny optics has led Holosun to get in on the action. With its latest offering, the AEMS (Advanced Enclosed Micro Sight), Holosun adds a micro-optic to its robust lineup.
The Holosun AEMS Optic
At only 54mm long, 36mm wide and 43mm tall, the AEMS is 11% shorter than the standard 20mm micro-style optics. This decrease in size is achieved while still providing twice the lens surface area for a wider field of view. The 7075 aluminum housing of the Holosun AEMS keeps the optic down to a light 3.9 ounces.
The 1/3 co-witness Picatinny mount of the AEMS is removable, allowing for replacement with an optional absolute co-witness mount. The absolute co-witness mount is sold separately and provides options for different shooting styles and weapon types.
The large viewfinder makes finding your reticle quick and easy, while the removeable/serviceable lens covers keep your viewfinder safe. A multi-reticle system allows you to select a 2MOA dot, 65MOA circle or circle-dot reticle, available in red or green. The left side contains the positive and negative intensity adjustment buttons, for optimal reticle visibility in any light.
The right side of the Holosun AEMS contains the 50,000-hour 2032 battery, which can be replaced without removing the optic. The shake-awake system ensures that your optic is ready when you grab your firearm. However, it also ensures that your battery won’t die due to forgetting to turn it off.
Although it does not charge the battery, the AEMS features a solar failsafe. The job of the solar failsafe is to power the AEMS in the event of a dead battery. It also automatically adjusts the illumination of the reticle, based on lighting conditions.
