FN 509 LS Edge: FN America’s New Long Slide Is Most Advanced 509 Yet

FN America made big news Monday, launching an all-new pistol: The FN 509 LS Edge. Tactical and practical shooting collide in this factory-tuned 9mm Long Slide pistol. It boasts an impressive collection of features and enhancements, making it equally ready for duty or high-level competition.

First Look at the FN 509 LS Edge Pistol

The FN 509 is a favorite amongst shooters. But the new 509 LS Edge gives the line a serious upgrade. The pistol features FN’s Low-Profile Optics Mounting System. It combines with the green fiber optic front sights, enabling irons and a miniature red dot co-witnessed. The pistol comes with four optic mounting plates.

The midsize frame gives users a full-size pistol feel, yet it conceals comfortably. An ambi slide stop and two interchangeable backstraps also allow users to fit the pistol to their hand.

The 5-inch hammer-forged target-crowned barrel delivers accuracy. Meanwhile, the 6.7-inch platform, bears an 0.004-inch fiber-optic from sight. It delivers an extended sight picture, improving target acquisition, according to FN. A duty-rated, flat-faced trigger breaks at four to five pounds.

The pistol features lightening cuts along the slide, delivering balance to a platform that includes graphite anodized base plates and a flared aluminum magazine well. The resulting package shoots flat, racks faster and recovers instantly, FN says. The frame features full-height stippling for better grip purchase.
