The DeSantis Ammo Nemesis Holster offers users the ability to carry their pocket pistol with a spare magazine of ammunition.
If you carry a self-defense pistol concealed, it is never a bad idea to have extra ammunition for it just in case. You’ll never know if you may need an extra magazine or speed strip to get you out of a sticky situation. However, the issue is not whether you should carry extra ammunition in many cases, but rather how to best carry that extra ammunition. For my needs, I mostly carry a pocket pistol in a pocket holster because I don’t want to be burdened, which I am already close to when you add in a cell phone, wallet, knife and car keys.
This mode of carry also has the advantage of allowing you to begin to access the gun without drawing a lot of attention to yourself—namely just putting your hand in your pocket. I am already a big fan of the Nemesis holster from DeSantis Gunhide, which features a pebbled rubber coating that sticks to your pocket so that the holster is not still attached when you draw your gun. This holster is sturdy, holds its shape and keeps the gun’s grip up in the pocket so it is oriented correctly for you to draw it. It also does an excellent job of masking the outline of the gun to prevent printing. To all the world, it just looks like I am carrying my wallet in my front pocket. The result is a very low-key, yet extremely convenient means of deep-cover carry for my selected carry gun.
Now DeSantis has significantly enhanced its standard Nemesis holster with the new Ammo Nemesis model. This new holster adds a small extra pocket that extends from the muzzle towards the grip and is designed to hold a spare magazine for a semi-automatic pistol or a speed strip for a compact revolver. This does slightly extend the usual tab that is located here and helps secure the holster in the pocket as well as prevent printing. However, it is not inconvenient, and it still provides excellent access to your handgun.
For someone wishing to carry a small and unobtrusive handgun for self-defense, yet still have some backup ammunition in case things go from bad to worse, this is a perfect solution. With the DeSantis Ammo Nemesis, the concealed carry user has the option of carrying extra ammunition conveniently without having to worry about the hassle of adding extra gear to a belt or filling one’s pockets with more “junk.”
