An armed robber was killed in Chicago on Wednesday night after his intended victim shot him dead with a concealed carry gun.
CBS Chicago reports that a 22-year-old man man was sitting in a vehicle with another man in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side when two men armed with handguns walked up and attempted to rob them.
What the suspects didn’t know, and what is becoming increasingly common, is that the would-be victim had a concealed carry gun. He drew his weapon and opened fire, shooting and killing one of the robbers. The other suspect fled the scene. The age and identity of the two bad guys has not been publicly confirmed.
Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman, has confirmed that the man had a valid concealed carry license, DNAinfo reports. Thankfully, neither him nor the other man in the vehicle were injured as a result of the incident
Illinois’ concealed carry law went into effect in 2014, making it the last state in the country to allow its citizens to exercise that right.
