The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promised that, if elected to power, it would introduce a mandatory self-defense course for school-age girls and will set up a special force to protect women in India.
BJP attacked Congress saying that Sheila Dikshit government failed to provide security and safety of women. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said this was the government’s “biggest failure.” She said the BJP wants to create an environment free from “fear, harassment and exploitation”.
The party would provide self-defense training, improve law and order situation and work to bring change to society’s view towards women and rape victims.
