The American Institute of Tae Kwon Do — a family-owned and operated martial arts school located in Monroe, Connecticut — is set to host a women’s self-defense seminar on Saturday, August 9 from noon to 2 p.m.
According to the Monroe Courier, the two-hour “Be Safe, Be Strong!” seminar will teach participants personal safety and awareness, in addition to simple and effective counterattack techniques to utilize in a variety dangerous situations.
The class is open to women and girls ages 14 and older. No martial arts experience is necessary. Organizers say this class may be particularly useful for those attending high school or college this fall.
The cost of attendance is $25 per person. Certified women’s self-defense and black belt instructors Deb Russell and Ann Sullo will teach the class. For more info or to register, call 203-459-1100 or email blackbeltmoms@gmail.com.
