AAC 556-SD suppressors — AAC 556-SD: Compact and lightweight, the 556-SD from Advanced Armament Corp. (AAC) features the 51T Ratchet Mount fast-attach system that enables users to install or remove the silencer in seconds. The baffle core is made of 100-percent Inconel, and the suppressor features full circumferential fusion welding to withstand the most demanding use. One of AAC’s 51T 1/2×28 Blackout Flash Hider Mounts is included with the suppressor.

AAC SR5 suppressors — AAC SR5: The SR5 is designed for 5.56mm weapon systems and features AAC’s 90T Ratchet Taper Mount, a fast-attach system that allows the user to install or remove the suppressor in less than three seconds. The baffle core is made from Inconel, and the exterior is Cerakoted.

AAC SR7 suppressors — AAC SR7: The SR7 is the big brother of the SR5, and it’s designed for 7.62mm NATO host weapons and uses the 90T Ratchet Taper Mount. Designed to minimize backpressure, the SR7 features a blast baffle system that protects against corrosion when using short-barreled rifles (SBRs). Like the SR5, the SR7’s baffle core is made from Inconel, and its exterior is Cerakoted.

Black Rain Ordnance Aris suppressors — Black Rain Ordnance Aris: The Aris from Black Rain Ordnance is designed for .223 Remington/5.56mm NATO rifles and offers maximum noise reduction in a 6-inch suppressor while offering excellent flash and recoil suppression. Made of stainless steel, the Aris is full-auto rated and comes with a disassembly tool. The epsilon baffles make for easy removal and maintenance. It weighs 21 ounces.

BlackHawk Barrage suppressors — BlackHawk Barrage: Think lightweight and full-auto rated don’t mix well? BlackHawk’s Barrage suppressor is one of the lightest full-auto 5.56mm suppressors in its class. At 12.6 ounces—including the integrated quick-disconnect mount—the Barrage hardly changes the balance of your rifle. The Barrage is constructed of perimeter-welded stainless steel and Stellite baffles encased in an aircraft-grade aluminum skin.

BlackHawk Gas Can suppressors — BlackHawk Gas Can: If you shoot a large-bore AR, the Gas Can 7.62mm sound suppressor from BlackHawk offers the best combination of sound reduction, light weight and durability. The Gas Can is full-auto rated and hearing safe up to .300 Winchester Magnum. It reduces the sound of a .308 Winchester round by 36 decibels.

Dead Air Armament Sandman-S suppressors — Dead Air Armament Sandman-S: Need a crossover suppressor for 5.56mm NATO, 300 Blackout and 7.62mm NATO platforms? The Sandman-S from Dead Air Armament is just 6.8 inches in length and weighs 18.5 ounces. The QD mounting system offers one-handed removal in just seconds with no wobble, no seizing, minimal point-of-impact shift and no loss of precision.

Gemtech GMT-300BLK suppressors — Gemtech GMT-300BLK: Gemtech’s GMT-300BLK suppressor is designed for shooting with either super- or subsonic 300 Blackout loading. Rated for full-auto fire, the GMT-300BLK is optimized for SBRs and features Gemtech’s innovative G-Core, so it is completely user serviceable. It offers a stated sound reduction rating of 28 to 30 decibels.

Gemtech GMT-HALO suppressors — Gemtech GMT-HALO: The GMT-HALO is the shortest and light HALO model to date. This 5.56mm NATO suppressor fits right over standard A2-style birdcage flash suppressors with mil-spec blank-firing adapter grooves. It is full-auto rated and weighs only 12.2 ounces.

Gemtech One suppressors — Gemtech One: The Gemtech One is a do-it-all sound suppressor that is full-auto rated and designed to SOCOM standards. Made of Inconel and titanium, the One can be used for calibers ranging from 5.56mm NATO to .300 Winchester Magnnum It offers a 32-decibel sound reduction and features Gemtech’s Interchangeable Quick Mount.

Sig Sauer SRD556 Series suppressors — Sig Sauer SRD556 Series: The SRD556 and SRD556Ti are both direct-thread suppressors that attach to a muzzle with 1/2×28 threads. The SRD556 is made from Inconel 718 alloy, and the SRD556Ti is made from Grade 5 titanium. Both of these suppressors feature rear mounts with wrench flats so they can be torqued down to the barrel. If a quick-detach system is desired, the SRD556-QD and SRD556Ti-QD are alternatives, which come with Taper-Lok muzzle brakes.

Sig Sauer SRD762 Series suppressors — Sig Sauer SRD762 Series: Sig’s 7.62mm NATO suppressors also come in Inconel or titanium—the SRD762 and SRD762Ti, respectively—with a direct-mount system. The SRD762-QD and SRD762Ti-QD use a quick-detach system. These SRD762 series suppressors are rated for use up to .300 Winchester Magnum rounds and other rifle cartridges of equal or less projectile diameter, pressure and case capacity.

SilencerCo Omega 30 suppressors — SilencerCo Omega 30: SilencerCo’s Omega 30 sound suppressor combines features from the company’s .30-caliber cans to make a good all-around suppressor. Made of titanium, stainless steel and Stellite alloy, the Omega 30 is short, lightweight, quiet and versatile. It’s rated for full-auto and magnum fire, and it can be used for calibers ranging from the 5.7mm to .300 Winchester Magnum.

SilencerCo Hybrid 46 suppressors — SilencerCo Hybrid 46: The Hybrid 46 is built for any platform, so if you want a suppressor for your AR and your sidearm, this model will do your bidding. This suppressor can be used on pistols, rifles and submachine guns, and it’s both full-auto and magnum rated for use with rounds ranging from the 9mm all the way up to the .45-70.

SilencerCo Saker ASR suppressors — SilencerCo Saker ASR: Having a versatile sound suppressor is a good thing. Available in 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm NATO, the Saker ASR offers ease of use, modularity and durability for AR-platform rifles as well as bolt actions. Full-auto rated, the suppressor’s Active Spring Retention mount technology facilitates easy attachment via a variety of different flash suppressors, muzzle brakes and direct-thread mounts.

SureFire SOCOM300 SPS suppressors — SureFire SOCOM300 SPS: The SOCOM300 SPS Fast-Attach suppressor from SureFire offers some of the best sound suppression for a .30-caliber silencer. Constructed of high-temperature alloy and stainless steel, the SOCOM300 SPS comes with SureFire’s patented Fast-Attach system, which securely attaches the suppressor to the rifle the same way every time. That means the SOCOM300 SPS produces minimal and consistent point-of-impact shifts.

Wilson Combat Whisper suppressors — Wilson Combat Whisper: Wilson’s Whisper suppressors feature 1.88-inch-diameter tubes with a monocore baffle design that is completely machined from titanium. These are lightweight, quick-cooling suppressors that will only add about 4.5 inches to your rifle’s overall length. Models are available for 5.56mm NATO, 6.8 SPC, 7.62mm NATO, 9mm and .458 SOCOM rifles.

YHM Nitro 30 suppressors — YHM Nitro 30: The Nitro 30 is a modular suppressor that can be configured for mission-specific needs. Rated for use with .17 HMR rounds through the .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, the Nitro 30 features comes with two different .30-caliber muzzle caps: a flat muzzle cap for tactical uses and a muzzle brake cap for target shooting. It also comes with two different rear caps: one for a dedicated setup and the other for a quick-disconnect setup.

YHM Turbo suppressors — YHM Turbo: The economical Turbo suppressor from Yankee Hill Machine (YHM) doesn’t cost a lot, but that doesn’t mean it’s light on performance or features. The 5.56mm Turbo is quiet and lightweight, and it uses a tubeless design made from heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel along with a heat-treated Inconel blast baffle. The Turbo is full-auto rated with an overall length of 6.5 inches and a weight of 13.5 ounces.

Sound suppressors can be deceptively simple. In essence, most are just tubes with baffles. Right? Well, not quite. Just like AR-platform rifles, not all suppressors are created equal. Some are indeed very simple, but many are now space-age designs to reduce your rifle’s sound signature and eliminate flash without adding too much weight to the front of your weapon. Many designs are attachable and detachable quickly in the field without any tools. You need to shop around find the right suppressor to meet your needs.
